The Dow Chemical Company Donates $500,000 to Brazosport Health Foundation’s Capital Campaign
Brazosport Regional Health System is pleased to announce a generous gift from The Dow Chemical Company of $500,000 to the Health Foundation’s Cornerstone of Caring Capital Campaign.
Dow’s significant gift boosts the Brazosport Health Foundation’s Cornerstone of Caring $5M Capital Campaign to $3,635,443. The generous gift will be acknowledged on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at a reception for Dow at Brazosport Regional Health System.
“We trace our beginnings as a healthcare organization to The Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, and therefore this generous gift has a special meaning for us,” said Al Guevara, CEO/President of Brazosport Regional Health System. “Through the years, Dow has been a partner in helping to ensure local access to quality healthcare services, and we are honored to accept this major gift to our Cornerstone of Caring capital campaign.”
The patient tower renovation includes a top-to-bottom renovation giving the ability to make all rooms private. Private rooms will reduce noise levels, decrease the risk of infection, and lower stress levels for patients. The modern, spacious, and comfortable private rooms provides space for the family to help in the healing process, allows loved ones to be secondary caregivers, and gives family members the option to visit more freely.
“Our partnership with the hospital is a proud part of our 75-year history in the Brazosport community,” says Earl Shipp, Vice President of U.S. Gulf Coast Operations. “From the 1960s when the Dow Magnesium Hospital was donated to the community to the 1980s when Dow donated 25 acres of land so that Brazosport Memorial could be built, we have long recognized the importance of having a local health system that provided the best of care for our region. Over the years, we have been proud to continue partnering with BRHS on initiatives such as the Dow Women’s Center and the other new facilities. Today we are very pleased to make this contribution and we are excited to be a part of our hospital system’s past, present and future.”
As a non-profit organization, the corporate partnerships and community support allows Brazosport Regional to invest in leading edge technology and equipment to provide every patient with excellent and compassionate care. Making a donation contributes to the expansion of healthcare and allows the local hospital to meet the every changing needs of the community.
