Brazosport Regional Launches Cancer Support Group
Brazosport Regional launches a Cancer Support Group that will meet once quarter on the third Thursday of the month from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The goal of the support group is to provide information and education about different resources available in the community as well as give attendees a platform to ask questions and talk freely with other people who are touched by cancer.
The Cancer Support Group is celebrating its launch on Thursday, July 17 with speakers Candice Saxton and Linda Frost from Help, Inc. The duo will speak about Comfort Care During Treatment. Help, Inc. is a personal assistance service licensed by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services that is dedicated to providing affordable companion care to customers of all ages. The presentation, Comfort Care During Treatment, will discuss available items and services available locally including transportation, cleaning and cooking services, and products that are specifically designed for people going through treatment.
Held in the classrooms at Brazosport Regional, the support group will foster a safe, comfortable, and encouraging environment for cancer survivors and those newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families and caregivers, so they feel supported as well as receive valuable information, share dialogue, and continue on their journey toward optimum wellness.
The group will be led by Cancer Center Director, Stefanie Edwards and Radiation Oncology Nurse, d’Arcey Scott. The dates for 2014 are Thursday, July 17 and Thursday, October 16. The group will meet in the classrooms at Brazosport Regional from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. For more information about the Cancer Support Group, please call d’Arcey Scott, RN, at 979-415-2307.
