Brazosport Regional is Recognized as a High-Performing Hospital by the Texas Center for Quality and Patient Safety
The Texas Center for Quality and Patient Safety recently recognized Brazosport Regional Health System as a high-performing hospital. High-performing hospitals are those that are meeting specified benchmarks in 60 percent of applicable hospital-acquired conditions.
Brazosport Regional is one of 3,700 hospitals that are involved with Partnership for Patients, a nation-wide initiative to improve the quality, safety, and affordability of healthcare for all Americans. To do this, participating hospitals are focused on achieving two goals by the end of 2013: (1) Preventable hospital-acquired conditions decrease by 40% compared to 2010, and (2) hospital readmissions reduced by 20% compared to 2010.
Beginning in January 2013, Texas Center for Quality and Patient Safety started using a CMS-developed progress scale to show how hospitals are progressing in various hospital-acquired conditions. At the same time, Texas Center for Quality and Patient Safety also began using this scale to recognize hospitals that are meeting certain benchmarks.
Brazosport Regional is one of the Partnership for Patient hospitals that is well on its way to reaching its goal. This underlines the Health System’s dedication to making hospital care safer, more reliable, and less costly.
